About us
Broad production horizons
JSC «Gomel Chemical Plant» currently
specializes in producing highly efficient complex fertilizers: «Ammophos», «Ammonized
Superphosphate» and nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizers of various grades.
In 2008 the company launched the production of liquid nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium
(NPK) fertilizers. Different grades of NPK have different К2О, Р2О5 and N ratios in their chemical compound. They are essentially a complex of basic elements
needed to be introduced into the soil and, thanks to a large number of grades of
fertilizers of this kind it is possible to choose the fertilizer’s optimum
chemical composition to match any crop.
Nowadays, intense and stable land use
is only possible through enhanced regeneration of the soil’s fertility and the
environmental safety of soil-enhancing procedures. These should be aimed at achieving
and maintaining optimum parameters for the soil’s principal agrochemical
properties which allow for harvesting large amounts of crops and for covering
the expenditures on fertilizers, as well as at warranting the appropriate level
of environmental safety.
In 2009 the plant initiated the production of various
grades of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium complex fertilizers based on four basic
grades: 16-16-16, 8-19-29, 8-24-24, 10-19-25.
It should be noted that these fertilizers’ chemical compositions contain
secondary elements (sulfur, magnesium, sodium) and microelements (boron, zinc, iron
etc.). Complex fertilizers containing additives of microelements and
biological agents, possess good physical properties, with their granules
durability increased by 10-15% and 100%-level friability. Using these fertilizers
it is possible to raise crops by 15-20% and to lower the content of nitrates, radionuclides
and heavy metals in the products by 25% on average.
Aside from that, the plant produces “Anhydrous
Sodium Sulfite” (of technical and photographical grades). This product is used in
leatherworking, pharmaceutics, chemical and textile industry as well as for sewage
treatment.
Gomel’s chemists also produce goods that are
used in various spheres of production. For instance, technical artificial КП-grade cryolite is used to produce
glass, ceramic goods and abrasives. Technical aerosyl is used as a filler material
in the composition of carbamide-formaldehyde glues, in woodworking industry for
producing glued wooden materials.
Technical aluminum fluoride is applied in non-ferrous
metallurgy for aluminum production using the electrolytic method, in the
production of building materials, ceramics and glass. Sulfuric acid’s area of application
is oil processing, metallurgy, metalworking and other industries. Sulfuric acid
is also used in the production of mineral fertilizers, various mineral slats
and acids, organic products and explosives (electrolyte for lead-acidic accumulators).
The «Azophos» fungicide produced by the Gomel plant
is a new environment-friendly and efficient agent against the plants’ fungus
diseases. Apart from that, it provides for foliar fertilizing, for better
product safety and for the crops’ increased yielding capacity.
The «Roundup» herbicide has a broad application
spectrum, being designed for 1-lobular, 2-lobular, annual and perennial weed
and tree/bush plants control.
Gomel Chemical Plant also produces such
substances as complex fodder additive, phosphogypsum, air partition products (industrial
and medical oxygen).
But the company is not going to rest on its
laurels. Cooperating closely with scientific research and project institutes and
with various foreign companies, the plant’s specialists use their experience
and knowledge to enhance the products’ quality. The range of produced complex fertilizers
is increasing constantly by introducing various modifying additives with a
broad range of effects into their chemical composition (these include macro-
and microelements – Ca, Zn, S, Na, Cu, Mo, B, Mg, J, Fe, Mn etc, - plant growth controllers, biological agents, inhibitors,
fungicides etc). In brief, the company aims to considerably increase the share
of complex fertilizers in the overall production, with a gradual increase in the
output of packed products.
The plant
has already mastered the techniques necessary to produce new types of
fertilizers for the soil with average-level fertility with regards to
biological peculiarities of specific crops on an experimental and industrial
scale. For instance, batches of fertilizers were produced for: potatoes, spring
crops (16-12-20 with a biological agent) and winter crops (5-16-35 with a
biological agent), vegetables (10-20-20), flax (6-21-32 with the addition of boron
and zinc), sugar-beet (14-12-11 with S, Сa, Na, B), etc.
Petrochemistry To Agriculture
Maximum satisfaction of Belarusian agriculture’s
demands, increasing the output of exported goods, securing their competitiveness,
lowering production costs are the main goals and tasks for the leaders of JSC «Gomel
Chemical Plant» and all of its personnel. And now this experience has its effect:
now they’re sure that, using the complex approach of that kind, the plant can
become offer indispensable help to an agricultural company in every aspect that
is, one way or another, related to enriching the soil with nutritional
substances. This is mostly why the plant set up the production of complex NPK-fertilizers
aimed at specific crops and practically with any set of macro- and
microelements depending on the buyer’s desire. This is due to the fact that the
usage of complex composite fertilizers in agriculture worldwide has increased
lately, while the usage of the single-effect and low-concentration-level
fertilizers has diminished. Intensive techniques of cultivating crops also include
using biostimulators and microelements alongside the balanced introduction of
basic nutritional elements.
The main advantages of complex fertilizers
as compared to the single-effect ones are: the opportunity to introduce
fertilizers with a balanced proportion of nutritional elements for the crops, lower
costs of storing and introducing, lower anthropogenous load on the soil.
The presence of all the basic elements
of plants nutrition – nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, - as well as microelements,
in a single granule provides for more balanced distribution of the elements in
the soil, optimized conditions of the plants’ nutrition, lower soil density
and, most of all – all the nutritional elements are introduced in a determined
proportion, which ultimately raises the yielding capacity.
It’s worth mentioning that, after years
of research, the scientists from the RUC «Soilworking and Agrochemistry
Institute of Belasrusian NSA» have come to the conclusion that applying complex
NPK-fertilizers with biological agents and microelements as an additive
augments the crops’ yielding capacity by 15–20 % as compared to the effect of conventional
fertilizers. Applying new types of delayed-effect composite fertilizers to the country’s
sod-podzol soil ensures that the loss of nitrogen in the wash-out process is
lower by 20-35% (as compared to the standard types of fertilizers), the loss
rate of potassium in the same case is lower by 15-30 %, for water-soluble humus,
calcium and magnesium the same rate is lowered by 20 %, which reduces the
pollution of surface and subterranean water by nitrogen-chlorine-sulfur-containing
chemical compounds.
This leads us to the conclusion that
protecting the environment is one of the top concerns for the Gomel Chemical
Plant. Here a great deal of attention is paid to establishing wasteless
production, reducing the amount of solid, liquid and gaseous waste. All the
main shops producing mineral fertilizers operate according to the
zero-discharge technique.
