JSC «Gomel Chemical Plant»: Innovation Through Transformation
JSC «Gomel Chemical Plant» is one of the largest enterprises of Belarus’ petrochemical industry and the country’s only producer of phosphorus-containing mineral fertilizers. The company has significantly expanded its production over a short period of time: the plant specializes in the production of complex phosphorus-containing fertilizers as well as products derived from inorganic synthesis. Since the moment of its foundation and up until now the plant has continuously been upgrading its production technology, contributing greatly to the development of the country’s petrochemistry. Chemists from Gomel were the country’s first to initiate the production of double superphosphate with boron microadditive as well as double superphosphate using the mixing of sulfuric and phosphoric acids, and to introduce a shortened process of cryolite derivation.
